Listing fraud

Advance-rent housing listing

A too-cheap flat listing collects a token via UPI, then the listing and number disappear.

Warning signs

  1. 01

The rent is far below other flats on the same street.

  2. 02

The owner is “out of station” and cannot show the house.

  3. 03

Photos are generic, or a reverse search shows them on other cities’ listings.

  4. 04

They want a token on UPI before you visit, to “block” the flat.

  5. 05

The name on the UPI account is not the name on any ownership paper.

Do not pay a token for a home you have not walked through.
