How Scam Works?

This chat is made up. It shows how the trick usually sounds. It is not a real message. Do not reply, and do not send money.

Email to your contacts

Your own address

  1. Scam message

I am abroad and my wallet was stolen. Please send money to this account today. I will explain later.

  2. What you might say

This does not sound like you. I will call.

  3. Scam message

I cannot take calls. The mail is enough. Please send it now.

Do not share your email password or a login code. Turn on the extra login check in the email settings you open yourself.

  1. 01

    They get into the mailbox

A reused password or a fake login page is a common way. You may see a login alert.

  2. 02

They write to people who trust you

The mail asks for money, a gift card, or a code. It sounds personal because they can read old mail.

  3. 03

    You take the account back

Use the official recovery page of Gmail, Outlook, or your provider. Tell your contacts the mail was not you. Do not pay the request.
