Online and Social Media Related Crime

Cyber Bullying / Stalking / Sexting

Someone keeps sending threats, mean messages, or unwanted sexual messages. They may use your photos to scare you.

How Scam Works?

This chat is made up. It shows how the trick usually sounds. It is not a real message. Do not reply, and do not send money.

A new account using your photo

  1. Scam message

Pay me or I will send your photos to your family tonight.

  2. What you might say

Stop. I am saving this chat.

  3. Scam message

Nobody will believe you. Send the money and I will delete everything.

You do not have to pay or send more photos to make this stop. Save the messages, block the person, and tell someone you trust.

  1. 01

It starts as a normal chat

Someone is friendly. They may ask for a photo, or they may already have an old picture.

  2. 02

    The tone changes

They threaten to share the photo or to keep contacting you. They want money, more photos, or silence.

  3. 03

    Paying does not end it

People who pay are often asked again. Keep the messages. Tell a family member or the police. Call 1930 if money was sent.
