Ransomware

Your files or screen are locked. A message demands money to open them again.

Warning signs

  1. A note appears that you did not write, saying your files are locked.

  2. It demands payment, often in crypto, before a timer runs out.

  3. Your normal files will not open.

  4. The note says not to tell the police, or the files will be deleted.

Do not pay the screen. Disconnect the computer from the internet and get help. Call 1930.
